Adventure Log 3

After spending time resting in the Grove of Harmony, it was time to continue my journey to find the mysterious tree. Unfortunately that means traversing yet another steep path. The deeper into these woods I go the more perilous the terrain becomes.

This steep terrain causes me to stumble and fall often, and my poor knees ache from the tiny rocks I land on. In the distance I see what looks to be another cave in the side of the mountain. My heart flutters with the hope of rest, but I also know to be wary. As I get closer to the cave, I peer inside. Seeing a strange glint, curiosity gets the best of me. As I step further into the cave, I don't see the scattered bones and twigs until it is too late.

I fall hard. Rolling and fumbling further inside the cave. A small cut is bleeding on my forehead as I try to pull myself back to my feet. I look around the cave, and can clearly see the glint of treasure. To my dismay it also is being guarded by a legendary Golden Winged Bluebird. These beautiful creatures love to collect shiny objects, but that also means they are very protective of their treasures.

With blood dripping down my face, I decide today is not the day to risk my life for treasure. However, I am so close to the sleeping bird I fear moving may wake them. Remembering the cloak I found yesterday, I manage to pull it from my pack and place it over my shoulders.

Disappearing into mist, I slowly limp my way out of the lair. Looking back, I can see the birds head has lifted, and is looking in my direction. As if it can sense someone or something is near. I don't dare test my luck, unsure of how long the cloaks effects will last. As I make my way down the other side of the mountain the magic of the cloak fades, and I thank it for holding out till I was safe.

When I reach the bottom of the mountain, I am tired and worn. I am about to make my own camp for the night, but to my surprise someone else already has. They seemed to have abandoned it sometime ago. Scrounging around I manage to find a delicious Honey Glazed Acorn that reminds me of home. Popping it in my mouth I can feel my body sigh as energy returns. Though I am still quite battered I make camp here for the night and tend to my wounds.
