Adventure Log 4
It is a new day filled with possibilities. My head is feeling much better, though I am still a bit sore. I am grateful to this little camp, and hope it helps another traveler later down the road. Collecting my things I make my way forward.
The forest is lush and alive, the sunlight paints the forest floor in speckled light. I notice some tracks not far off the trail. Curious, I begin to follow them, until they bring me to a small lair. There is a glint inside, I sniff the air. Remembering the Golden Winged Bluebird from yesterday. I am curious if this could be another. Gazing in I don't see an animal, but a curious bottle. It glints with starlight, like a small galaxy. I grab the small vial, pocketing it for later. As I turn to leave I am met with an angry fenle lizard. Who does not seem happy about my presence.
The lizard lets out a screeching roar that hurts my ears. But I manage to swiftly strike it and move into a defensive stance. My attack bounces off his scale, and he uses the opportunity to swipe at my with his claws. Thankfully, I am read and evade the attack. I lunge forward with a small dagger, and this time I manage to get through his scales.
However, this only angers the beast more. His eyes are flaming with rage as he flails his body around the lair, trying to get me. The lizard manages to slice at my arm, but also injures himself against the sharp rocks of the cave. Not wanting to miss an opportunity while my opponent seems dazed, I ignore the pain in y arm and shoot one of my arrows, piercing a weak spot on his chest. The creature cries out in pain, before collapsing on the floor. I wait a moment before slipping past, The treasure I earned still safe in my pocket. I favor my injured arm, but I can tell the injury is will slow my progress.
Soon the dirt path turns to soft grass, and I can see the sun getting lower in the sky. I will need to rest soon. Ahead a huge oak tree looms high above the rest. It's branches reaching towards to sky. As I get closer I see that someone has left behind their pack. Peering inside I find some bread, and other supplies, but not much else.
However, moving the pack reveals footprints leading toward the hollow of the tree. I wonder if the owner of the pack is inside and in need of help. Inside the hollow the path leads down into a tunnel. My injury making me wince, and throwing off my balance. I stumble on a rock, and fall. The world around me goes black once more.
