The Beauty Found in Simple Squares
So recently I decided to finally make a Minecraft server. Just a fun little side project, didn't really think much of it. Little did I realize how much joy I would find in the process, and in the creation. Building my own cozy space that feels like me, but also that I'm able to share with other people who enjoy the game as well. I have loved making pixel art graphics for it, building the website, and creating the main builds of the spawn area. Even coding custom plugins for it, to really make it feel custom and personal.
I have had about 3 active people playing alongside myself, and we are having a few more people join as well. Having the social aspect of having others there who enjoy the space, and the game makes my day less lonely. It brings me so much joy to see them going off on their own adventures, sharing their stories, and their screenshots.
Last night I finally caved and installed the 'Complimentary Reimagined' Shader Pac, and OMG it has turned my game into a work of art. I love watching the sunrise and sunset, seeing the weather change, and the pixel leaves blow in the breeze. It has been such an escape, and peaceful place to be.
I thought maybe I would feel pressure to build these epic builds I see all over Pinterest, but really I am find joy in the smaller builds, and just making it feel like me, finding my own build style and adding the things I love. I have a very nature/cottage-core aesthetic and I feel like it shows. I love whimsy, adventure, but also cozy environments. So, its ok If I don't have grand castles, or a huge mushroom tower (though I do want to make some sort of mushroom building... hehe 🍄). There are no wrong answers, just creativity and joy.
Plus, I get to create a safe-haven for other people as well, who enjoy similar things as me. It can be hard making friends in real-life as a 33 year old neurodivergent adult. I feel 'other' most of the time, or that people view me as 'strange' or 'too much'. When really I just get super passionate and excited about the things that bring me joy and want to share that experience with them.
I'm so excited to see how this little baby server grows, make memories, create beautiful things, and enjoy the sunrise over the cherry trees 🌸.
