✦ Session 1 - A Mysterious Letter
Spring 🌸 Day 1 - Cloudy ☁️
Ivy arrived to the medieval town, her small backpack of belongings barely weighing down her shoulders. She let out a deep sigh ”I wonder if I will find who sent me this letter?”, thinking while holding the battered letter in her hand. She had read it over and over, trying to figure out who may have sent it.
She had never heard of the small town of Cozy Hollow before. She almost wasn’t able to find it on a map, since it was so far from any large towns and cities. She spent a few months re-reading the letter, debating with herself.
Dear Ivy,
I hope this letter finds you well. I write to you from our humble town of Cozy Hollow, in hopes that you are interested in taking over your families old farmhouse. It is in dire need of care, and it would be a shame to see it go to ruins. Something tells me you need it, as much as it needs you.
-A Friend
She hadn’t known she had any relatives, then again her parents had been dead for years. She had an aunt who raised her, but she never mentioned any other family. Her aunt had passed away from old age only 6 months prior to receiving the letter, so she wasn’t able to ask who it could have been from.
Eventually curiosity, and desperation got the best of her. Life in the big city had become too much for her, and her Aunts debts were to much to bare. She needed to get away from the greedy fast paced life-style, and start over. Maybe this letter would lead her to a new life, one of her own making.
Shaking away her thoughts, she made her way down the broken overgrown cobblestone path, that led to the main part of the small town. There were people of all kinds going about their day, smiling and waving at each other. There were orcs, elves, goblins and dwarves. The city of Nordsville where she was from was mainly inhabited by High Elves, Humans and a lot of the minor races were seen as low-life’s there. Here it seemed as if everyone was equal.
However, walking further into town, she could feel eyes slowly turn on her. She wasn’t a fan of attention, but she needed to find someone who could guide her to the farmhouse, hopefully to whoever had sent her the letter.
Does someone greet Ivy when she arrives?
- No
Although some eyes find hers, it seems as if everyone is either too busy, too shy, or unbothered by her presence to approach her. ”Guess I’m going to have to do some digging around… I hate talking to strangers”
Who does Ivy speak to?
- Argue
Ivy looks around at all of the townsfolk going about their day, talking with each other, working and shopping. As her eyes wander two voices pickup amongst the crowd drawing her eye. One looking uncomfortable as the other talks more firmly. The stranger meets her eyes, and Ivy can’t help but feel a bit of pity for them. As someone who can’t stand confrontation herself, she wonders if they also wish someone would save them.
So, instead of just standing there, she walks up to the two people, and interrupts the one sided conversation. ”Sorry to bother you, but do you think you could help me?”
The female demon-kin gives her a look up and down, before rolling her eyes exasperated walking away. Ivy feeling a bit guilty for interrupting them. The male tanuki runs his eyes over Ivy as well, before asking ”Who are you?”
Now that Ivy was under the males stare, she realized maybe interrupting them hadn’t been such a good idea. Stammering she replies, ”Oh, um… sorry. I’m new to town and needed some help. My name is Ivy.”
He looks at her and nods, his shoulders loosening up slightly. ”What brings you to the town of Cozy Hollow?”
”I got a letter mentioning I was left a farmhouse and some land” giving him a small smile, still clutching the paper in her hand. ”Was hoping someone might know more.”
Try Your Best - Find out who sent this letter
Ivy decides to take a risk, and show the tanuki her letter. ”I’m not sure who it’s from,” shrugging her shoulders.

Is the letter from someone in town?
- Yes
The Tanuki takes the letter from her hands, and she watches as he skims over it. Ivy is a bit embarrassed by the wear, it is obvious she has read it many times. Hanging the letter back to Ivy he says, ”I’m Bennie.”
Ivy takes the letter from him, and gives a small smile. ”Nice to meet you Bennie.” He gives her a very small smirk, which hints that maybe there is some softness under his hard exterior.
”As for the letter, it’s definitly from someone in town. That stationary is sold in our post office.”
Ivy looks down at the letter, her heart fluttering ever so slightly. So someone from here knows me somehow… ”Thank you, that’s very helpful”
Does he know where the farmhouse is?
- No
”As for the farmhouse it mentions. We have a lot of abandoned ones around here, so I’m not sure I can help you there.” He shrugs.
Does he know someone who can help me find the farmhouse?
- Yes
”However, you might be able to find some more information at our town hall.” Bennie points to a large two story cobblestone building, with ivy and weeds growing up the sides. The Bushes in the front look as if they could use a trim.
”Oh thank you! Surely someone there will know more.” Excitedly she starts to walk in the direction of the building. She hears Bennie talk after her, ”See yah around I guess.” Ivy’s cheeks grow red, ”Right, sorry! Thank you again for your help Bennie,” she says back sheepishly. He nods shaking his head at her, but she can’t help but see the small smirk on the corner of his mouth. Turning around, she smiles before heading in the direction of the building.
